About Us- 60 Years of HVAC Excellence
Established in 1948, Bartol Heating and Cooling has been a family-owned and operated business for over 60 years. Founded by Navy veteran Franklin H. Bartol, our journey began with Bartol Refrigeration Service on Broad Street in New London. Originally focused on refrigeration, the company evolved to meet the demands of changing times, adding air conditioning and heating services to its repertoire.
In the 1960s, air conditioners surged in popularity, becoming a Bartol specialty. Franklin J. Bartol, son of the founder, joined the company in 1962, bringing fresh perspectives and skills. After a stint in the Army and obtaining his Contractor’s License in 1976, Frank Jr. returned in 2010 to purchase the company. Bartol Heating and Cooling continued its legacy, embracing new technologies and customer-centered principles.
In 2017, as part of the transition to retirement, Bartol Heating and Cooling was acquired by Phalanx Engineering of Warwick, RI. Despite the change, the commitment to customer relationships remained intact. Joe Short, named VP and General Manager in 2018, embodies the energy, enthusiasm, and customer service attitude that drives Bartol today.
